Healthy Weight

What is a healthy weight? A healthy weight is a weight at which an individual feels their very best. However, this is just one part of the healthy puzzle in achieving a healthy weight.

Some individuals accept higher numbers on the weight scales and have no qualms about carrying around extra pounds, even if they feel fine - but it doesn’t mean that they are at a healthy weight.

Other individuals rely on weight charts& weight guidelines in establishing their healthy weight. When these numbers are adhered to, the individual may end up weighing less or more than they should.

While the individual weighs the recommended weight, it doesn't mean that they are at a healthy weight.

So how does one know when they are at a healthy weight? Here are a few indicators to achieving a healthy weight:

- The body is able to freely move about. Individuals at a healthy weight have an increased endurance rate over individuals at an unhealthy weight.

- As stated above, while weight charts and guidelines provide ideal healthy weight for individuals based on height and body frame size, it's important to keep in mind that they are simply patterns for healthy weight and should not be assumed to be set in stone. While 105 pounds might be a healthy weight for 5’ Betty, it might be far too thin for 5’ Ann.

- Individuals at a healthy weight tend to have a mind that is clear of mental fog. Their lungs operate efficiently. Their body feels no pressure in the abdominal area.

- When an individual is at a healthy weight their clothing fits well. Pants, skirts and belts fasten easily. Shirt collars fit without strain or button-popping.

- Individuals at a healthy weight are able to deal with hot weather conditions more favorably than individuals at an unhealthy weight. They also sweat less.

- Individuals at a healthy weight experience fewer digestive issues, in addition to a barrage of other health issues than individuals who are at an unhealthy weight. They are at less risk for cancer, heart attack, strokes, high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease among other health diseases and health issues.

Achieving a healthy weight will not only make the body feel better - but it will function at its best and will also look its best.
