Why Restricted 3 Day Diets Don't Work


Losing considerable weight in just 3 short days would be marvelous. Before we start envisioning the ton of weight we plan to lose in just three days, let's look at 3 Day Diets sensibly.

Example: Dieter Joe requires 3,500 calories to maintain his current weight. Even if Dieter Joe goes on a 3 day fast, he will only drop 3 pounds. In addition, such a drastic form of dieting could prove fatal for Dieter Joe as he doesn't realize he has diabetes.

As a note, 3,500 calories equals one pound.

Just by looking at Dieter Joe we can see the sane reasoning that starving for three days isn't worth such a small amount of weight loss. Here are a few other reasons why restricted 3 Day Diets don't work:

#2:   Three day diets tend to place the focus on one food.

#3:   A three day diet tends to generate water weight loss rather than fat loss. Weight soon returns once the three diet ends.

#4:   Three day diets are generally too low in calories to support the nutritional needs of the body, thus sending the body into a tailspin which can often lead to weight gain rather than weight loss as the body struggles to survive and thus places the metabolism into slow drive.

The good weight loss news: a HEALTHY 3 day diet can work in kick-starting a diet which will last for several weeks or months.

On the fifth day of leftover meatloaf mom said, " Waste not, want not."   Update your thinking to, " I'll prepare  controlled portions for my meals so there will be minimal leftovers. I will work diligently to keep my diet interesting and healthy."
