I began to think about my younger thinner days again. I was so active back then; I loved biking, skating, jumping rope - all very basic, physical things. That evening, I bought a bike, a pair of skates, a jump rope and a couple of 2-pound weights. I even picked up a package of jacks to help bring out the kid in me. I made a pledge to myself that I would use my new and very inexpensive weight equipment at least four times a week, thirty minutes each time.

 

My diet menus would be a bit tougher. My family and friends were very fond of my gourmet cooking skills, and fortunately, none of them had a weight dilemma. So I promised myself that I would continue to bake but would limit my 'testing of the finished product' to one small serving or slice. I was also interested in seeking new ways to bake healthier treats and meals, so I made that part of my weight goals.

 

My daily diet consisted of a bowl of cold cereal for breakfast with 1 cup of fruit. I measured everything! I was so surprised to find that my usual 'helpings' were much too large. One cup isn't much more than a handful.

 

I cut out all daily snacks. Other than the skim milk that I put on my morning cereal, I enjoyed diet drinks for my beverage choice. I abstained totally from alcohol, which is very high in calories. I used 'fake' butter and 'fake' sugar, too.
