      A Thanksgiving Feast

A Thanksgiving Diet Poem, Copyrighted by Diet Bites

With the Thanksgiving Holidays at hand, we thought that it would be fun to work out our diet frustrations on a poem.

If you've ever been dieting during the holidays, we think that you can relate to the 'painful' event. We hope that you enjoy this Dieter's Poem - and yes, please enjoy Thanksgiving Day, too!

A Thanksgiving Feast was about to commence
With roast turkey, dressing, and pies of quince.

The table was special, decorated with flair,
Snuggling next to my spouse, I pulled up my chair.

Ready to feast, with family and friends,
Who I knew would eat seconds, again and again.

But as for me, I'm on this damned diet,
I'll sit here and be good, and awfully quiet.

A sniff of the hot rolls, a snort of the eggnog,
And a lingering glance at the dark chocolate log.

Nothing for me except a small Spanish olive,
A cup of strained broth, with a hint of Palmolive.

Maybe a pickle and a stick of celery,
A few English Peas, and a glass of iced tea.

Those sweet potatoes sure look nice,
And maybe a small cup of wild rice.

Cranberry sauce, a spoon or two,
Mashed Potatoes? Oh yes, please do!

Some gravy here, and some gravy there,
How did the gravy get into my hair?

A slice of pie, a trail of cake,
How much more did they bake?

Oh, sweet divinity here, peanut brittle there,
Should I eat more, should I dare?

Perhaps another slice of Grandma's pumpkin pie,
And two more cookies that are catching my eye.

      Another cup of apple cider,
I'll need a vest, as a fat hider.

Tomorrow, I'll worry about my diet plan,
For Thanksgiving Day, feast  - oh yes I can!
