Weight Loss Guidelines Points to Counting Calories

In January 2005 the government released updated dietary guidelines that will be used in conjunction with the updating of the official USDA Food Pyramid.  Recommendations for a 'healthier you' included counting calories and a half hour to an hour and a half of exercise per day.

 

Whole Grains Emphasized for Better Health

Additional health-smart advice included more whole grains in the diet - three one-ounce servings per day.

The Juice is Loose

Dietary guidelines included whole fruits, whole veggies and discourage their juicy counterparts.
