Calorie Comparison: Reduced Fat Milk vs Low Fat Chocolate Milk

Take note that the nutrition chart below compares calories in LOW FAT chocolate milk rather than nonfat which is naturally lower in fat grams and calories.

Calcium Values in Reduced Fat Dairy Foods

In our research over the years we've noted that dairy foods which are lower in fat contain higher amounts of calcium values. Not always - but this holds true for the majority of foods.

In our milk comparison, the difference in calcium values is quite minimal.

Fat & the American Diet

While too much fat in the daily diet can result in excess body fat, it's a vital element of all healthy diets. The human body requires it for optimum health - for protecting our vital organs through padding, for adding luster to our hair and for nail health.

Reduced fat dairy products are recommended at the highest level - in the American Food Guidelines. Most doctors also recommend using reduced lipid dairy foods. But for some individuals, they simply do not like the taste of these lower-fat products.

If this sounds familiar, use your regular products [as long as they have been approved by your doctor], but rather than using the total recommended amount, try cutting the serving size by 1/4th. This will reduce lipid intake in addition to cutting calories.
