Fasting for Weight Loss? There's a Better 'Weigh'!

Tips & Weight Loss Advice to help keep your diet plan on track.

Want to lose weight fast?  Need an easy weight loss plan?

Rapid weight loss can be dangerous. Generally, no matter what diet the dieter tries OR which method of dieting is used, a two pound loss can be expected per week unless the dieter has more than 50 pounds to lose.

Easy weight loss can be accomplished by choosing a diet plan that is flexible to the dieter'sr lifestyle.

If the dieter starves for weight loss, quick weight loss cannot be expected as the body will adjust, assuming that the dieter is going into self-preservation mode.

Weight Loss and Fasting

If you want to drop a few unwanted pounds and are considering fasting for weight loss, I can tell you from personal experience that the odds of success are slim to none. Fasting triggers the metabolism to slow down and conserve energy because the lack of energy entering the body has vanished.

A better method for weight loss is a smart diet plan consisting of three healthy meals per day and a brisk walk. Cutting calories and upping activity level is a winning combination that will leave fasting for weight loss in the Diet Dust. Instead of fasting - try our Diet Sandwich recipe below. It's very minimal and calories and very filling.

How to make a Diet Sandwich - Calories - About 225 calories per sandwich.

A Diet Sandwich begins with a good base so we recommend a good quality of whole wheat bread (about 80 calories per slice).

Use only lean meats in the Diet Sandwich.

Opt for low fat cheese such as skimmed mozzarella (60 calories per slice).

Fill the Diet Sandwich with any of the following: field greens, any variety of lettuce, tomato, sliced bell pepper, pickles, thinly sliced cucumber, thinly sliced radish, thinly sliced carrot.

Spread with either LIGHT Mayo or mustard.

Top with an olive threaded through a frilly toothpick.

A Soup Diet for weight loss?

Soup can help you ditch a lot of unwanted weight.  Try this dieting experiment: Before you enjoy your next lunch or dinner, eat a bowl of tasty soup before your meal.  You'll eat less and soup calories are generally minimal - even for cream soups when you keep the serving to 1 cup.

Dieting Notes for Snacks, Beverages & Exercise

Be sure to take in your 8 healthy glasses of water.  Diet drinks may also assist you on your diet.  We also recommend 3 glasses of skimmed milk per day. Due to the calories contained in fruit juice, it is not weight-loss-friendly.  Opt for milk or water instead while trying to lose weight.

Choose a mid-morning snack and an afternoon snack from the following: 1 fresh peach, 1 small banana, 2 apricots, 2 small plums, 1 cup of grapes, 5 crackers and 1 slice of cheese, 1 large carrot, 1 small can of unsweetened pineapple.

Enjoy a nice evening walk for about 15 minutes.

Diet Tip When Dining Out

When the bread basket arrives at the table, if you are dieting, then 'return to sender'.  Those baskets of hot bread, hot rolls, warm tortilla chips and beer nuts can get a dieter in trouble quickly!

Tips for Low Calorie, Low Fat, Diet Desserts

Substitute the following for their higher calorie counterparts: Splenda for sugar, egg substitute for eggs, applesauce or fresh mashed fruits for oil and shortening, Grape Nut cereal for nuts, and light whipped topping for whipping cream.

Whole Grains Emphasized for Better Health

Additional health-smart advice included more whole grains in the diet - three one-ounce servings per day.

The Juice is Loose

Dietary guidelines included whole fruits, whole veggies and discourage their juicy counterparts.

What is a Diet Monkey?

Are you easily lured into trying the current fad diet?

Do you find standard diets that limit calories and fat boring?

Do you need a fun diet plan for weight loss which requires calculating foods, determining body frame size, diet personality type, counting carbs and so forth?

How Did You Score on the Diet Monkey Quiz?

If you answered all the questions above with a 'yes', then odds are, you are a Diet Monkey.  Diet Monkeys tend to swing with the most popular fad diet circling the Diet Village.  They also find the "standard diet" boring (generally defined as those diets prescribed at a doctor's office that include a tiny list of 'allowed foods).

Finally, Diet Monkeys must be given challenges; Diet Monkeys cannot stand being bored.  In fact, at the beginning of a fad diet, they generally enjoy all the calculating, reading and so forth, but they quickly become bored and must move on to the next most popular diet.

Solutions for Diet Monkeys: It's not necessarily a bad thing to be a Diet Monkey. You just have to know a safe place to swing.  And lucky you - you're already here - at Diet Bites.  Check out our free diet planners while you're here - and welcome to the Diet Jungle.
