WILL I GAIN WEIGHT IF I QUIT SMOKING?

If you carefully monitor your diet, then NO, you shouldn't fear a weight gain when you quit smoking. It will take much discipline, however. Most people do gain weight after they quit smoking, on average about 5 to 10 pounds.

The Reasons Why:

Smokers generally have a faster metabolic rate than non-smokers. Once smoking is stopped, the appetite also tends to be on the rise. Therefore, when you quit, exercise caution and closely monitor your diet. The health benefits that you receive far outweigh any minimal weight that you may gain.
