Diet, Weight Loss Tips, Weight Loss Support, Weight Loss & Dieting Advice TIPS ON REMOVING UNWANTED STARCH FROM FOODS |
|
Basically, most anything that sticks together and is white, contains a bunch of starch. Here are a few tips that are quite common, but often forgotten in the kitchen. 1. Soak your cut-up potatoes in water for about five minutes before cooking. Drain and pat dry. 2. Wash your cooked sticky rice until the water runs clear. Allow to drain thoroughly. 3. Thoroughly drain pasta; add 1 teaspoon of olive oil and toss until mixed well. 4. After steaming tortilla shells, drain off the excess liquid. 5. Drain canned corn, beets, and carrots before serving. 6. Cook beans for 30 minutes in boiling water; carefully drain; refill pot with water and seasonings and return to fire. 7. There appears to be a relation to this cook in tomatoes and starch. Starchy foods do seem to take much longer to cook when tomatoes are added. Therefore, tomatoes may act to lock in starches. |
