Dieter Jan had just moved into her new house on Food Pyramid Street. At first glance, she had fallen in love with the neighbors, particularly Mr. Fresh Cucumber. All of the houses on Food Pyramid Street were identical - shaped like svelte pyramids, wide at the bottom and pointy on top. Some of Jan's Diet Neighbors had bicycles parked out front, while others had large swimming pools. Jan was still contemplating which fun activities she wanted to incorporate into her weight loss plan as she gave the outside of her new pyramid house one last admiring glance, then climbed the steps leading to the tip of the pyramid and entered. This was the Fat Level - the 'eat sparingly' level and this room looked more awesome than the outside had! Donuts here, Next, she went down the steps and entered the next level - the Milk, Yogurt & Cheese level. What was this? Some idiot had changed out whole dairy products for skim - for diet-time purposes. Well, this wasn't going to be easy, Dieter Jan thought - but as she thought of her neighbor Mr. Fresh Cucumber, she decided that she could live with skim if it helped her lose weight. Next to this room was the Meat, Poultry, Fish, Dry Beans, Eggs & Nuts Room - which was a little
Climbing down to the next level of her new food pyramid house, she discovered the Vegetable & Fruit Level. Although she loved the Fruit Room, she didn't think that she could live with the Vegetable Room. Stinky broccoli, brussel sprouts, starchy corn - Dieter Jan just didn't like vegetables - cucumbers excluded. And....perhaps potatoes....and just maybe a bit of lettuce and tomatoes from time to time. With that thought, Dieter Jan decided to do a room makeover, moving out the vegetables that she detested and keeping the ones that she loved. As she made her way down to the Bread, Cereal, Rice and Pasta Level, Jan was getting the hang of this diet thing. And although she didn't like everything in her new Diet Home, a bit of rearranging and decorating made it all her own.
EXAMPLE OF THE OFFICIAL FOOD PYRAMID In Summary: Since all dieters like different things, it's okay to cull out those foods that they are not fond of in the Food Pyramid. The key is to eat a variety of foods from all of the groups for top nutritional benefits.
