CAN PIZZA BE A HEALTHY PART OF YOUR DIET?

 

Pizza rules the world these days and has overtaken the scrumptious cheeseburger by a good kilometer!

The basic ingredients of a pizza include:

- the crust

- the tomato base

- cheese

- meats

- veggies

Most of the fat stems from the cheese and meats. Draining the meats helps reduce the fat. As for the cheese, the no-fat versions will definitely healthy-up the pie, but they tend to have 'melting problems'.  The 'light' versions actually work very well.

For a healthier crust, try whole wheat flour.

So can a pizza be a part of your healthy diet?  Yes it can - even when you have to do it fast-food-style.  Simply keep your selection to 1 or 2 slices and eat light the remainder of the day. Enjoy a nice salad with minimal dressing with your pizza to help offset the fat.

As a note, most fastfood pizzas contain about 350 calories per slice.
