Diet, Weight Loss Tips, Weight Loss Support, Weight Loss & Dieting Advice HOW BIG IS A SERVING OF PEANUT BUTTER? |
|
The recommended serving size for peanut butter - whether chunky, smooth or extra chunky is your pick - is 2 Tablespoons. That's about the size of a golf ball - not a tennis ball, though sometimes we all get a bit carried away. Peanut butter is an excellent source of protein, but you'll get more fiber benefits by choosing the extra chunky variety. If you're watching your sodium intake, search for unsalted versions. There are a few fat-reduced peanut butters on the market, but most contain about the same number of calories as 'regular' peanut butter (190 calories per serving). Peanut butter can be substituted for meat, eggs, cheese or beans in your diet in the event you are looking for something different, yet still healthy, as your main course. Take note that peanut butter is a common allergen. Special Health Note!!! Do not allow children under the age of 5 to eat peanut butter without supervision as it is one of the foods related to choking and sometimes, death in small children. |
