Kitty's New Year's Resolution

It's the holiday season! Kitty is happy and really enjoying being with friends and family. Then it happens. Kitty's smile shatters as Aunt Scrooge nears the cider-filled punchbowl where she's standing. Aunt Scrooge's got the eyes of a hawk and the tongue of a snake. Kitty can feel it, the attack that's certain to come.
"Dear, you've put on MORE weight since I last saw you, haven't you?"
Just what Kitty needed; Aunt Scrooge's annual flogging. Kitty refills her cup and tells her aunt, "Yes I have, Aunt Scrooge. Nonetheless, my New Year's resolution is to lose weight and get healthy. I'm pretty excited about that."
Aunt Scrooge smiles at Kitty. "Lovely! You'll be just lovely, darling." Draping her arm around Kitty's shoulder she leads her away, telling her, "You know, I have this wonderful little Jell-O thing that I brought today - very healthy. It's green."
Kitty and Scrooge share a laugh.
As you can see, there are several ways to handle a tense moment during the holidays. If you've put on a few pounds since last year, it's your business and yours alone. However, many times friends and family will mention a weight gain, but if they truly care they will manage to broach the subject in a tactful way.
Enjoy the holidays, but begin making plans now to get healthy during the coming year. It's a great New Year's Resolution - one that remain with you for a lifetime!
