The roads may have been particularly winding or filled with hills and valleys - or Farmer Jone's cows or Farmer Joe's sheep. And as all good farmers and ranchers know - sheep and cattle just don't mix.

The back roads may have petered-out, leading to dead ends. They may have contained potholes or fallen brush. One back road may have fed into another - and yet into another and so forth. You may have ended up traveling two times or more the distance that the freeway would have offered.

When We're In Control of Our Diet Plan

When we become in control of the driver's seat in our Diet Vehicle - we can steer the wheel and go where we want to go. We have a nice map that can assist in our journey which is called our weight loss plan.

However, any great weight loss plan is never set in stone. It can be worked, changed and molded to suit our personal needs. And at times, a great plan that works for one individual won't cut the mustard for another.

As to the weight loss experiments, so many times there is just one or two things that keep us from achieving optimum success.

While a vehicle can take us across the country and travel thousands and thousands of miles over its lifetime, without a simple key to start the engine - it is useless (unless you know a good hot-wirer).

Let's look at Andy. He has found a coconut that contains a luscious milk and white flaky meat that longs to be enjoyed. And he is anxious to taste the coconut and to drink the milk. He grabs a pencil and gives it a good tap.

Nothing. He looks into his tool kit and pulls out a rasp. Nothing. He tries another tool - this time a very thick buffing cloth. Yet nothing again. He can't open the coconut. Once more he reaches into his bag of tools and pulls out a hammer. Success! Andy had the hammer all along in his tool bag. He just didn't use the right tool until later amid his attempt to open the coconut.

This is much like most dieters. They have all the tools. They learn through experiments which work the best to produce weight loss success. It requires time, effort and dedication. Very rarely do dieters go on a weight loss plan - diet for a few weeks and it's all over.

They have reached their perfect weight which they will maintain for the remainder of their long, long lives. It just doesn't quite happen that way - and when it does, it's quite rare.

Another example is Lou. He had to repair a door and he used all of the right tools. Yet, the door won't close all the way. It's a perfect fit with nothing in the way which might prohibit it from closing.

Then he notices something - those rusty hinges. He pulls his oil can from his box of tools and givers those rusty hinges a few squirts. Now the door is working perfectly - as it should.

Like many dieters, their tools may be a bit rusty. With a bit of hard work - that rust can be buffed out nicely to produce stellar weight loss results.
