Diet Bites Top Five Choices at Domino's for Dieters

Domino's has several menu selections that can fit perfectly into your healthy diet plan.

Who says that you can't have your pizza and eat it too?

2 slices of cheese pizza, 12" medium size for a total of 410 calories: The cheese pizza contains only 210 calories per slice, 4 saturated fat grams, 460 mg of sodium and 8 total dietary fat grams.

2 slices of Veggies, 12" medium size for a total of 400 calories: Veggie pizza contains only 200 calories per slice, 3 saturated fat grams, 410 mg of sodium and 7 grams of total dietary fat. Enjoy 1 slice of a 14" pie for 270 calories.

2 slices of Philly Steak, 12" medium size for 400 calories. The nutrition values mirror those for the Veggies.

2 slices of Ham & Pineapple, 12" medium size for 400 calories: The Ham & Pineapple selection contains 200 calories per slice, 3 saturated fat grams, 490 mg of sodium and 7 total fat grams. The 14" pizza contains 280 calories per slice.

2 slices of Grilled Chicken & Veggies, 12" medium size for 400 calories. Each slice contains 200 calories; a slice from a 14" pie contains 280 calories and mirrors the nutritional values for the Ham & Pineapple.

As a note, the above may appear to be a lot of calories, but pizza tends to have strong satiety powers due to the dietary fat content as well as the dietary fiber content.

When we feel full after meal time we are less likely to reach for a snack a couple of hours after our meal ends, typically in mid-afternoon or late evening between dinner and bedtime.

Satiety power of a particular food and meal must also be considered whenever you 'weigh' your diet choices.

While the meal itself may hold more caloric content, if it satisfies appetite for longer periods of time wiping out the needs for supplemental snacks, when snack calories are subtracted to the caloric values of the meal, the dieter may actually be saving calories.

As to the nutritional values of pizza, it's generally taboo on weight loss plans due to fat and caloric content per serving.

If we examine the humble pizza under the Diet Microscope we see that a supreme variety can contain all the healthy Food Groups.

The crust lives in the Grain Group.

The cheese lives in the Dairy Group.

The vegetables, including the tomato sauce resides in the Vegetable Group. If meat such as lean ham is used, the ingredient resides in the Protein Group.

And finally, if pineapple is added to the ham and cheese pizza, the ingredient resides in the Fruit Group. In addition, the tomato sauce qualifies as a fruit group serving.

So now, we have an assembly of healthy ingredients - as long as the cheese is low in fat, or reduced fat cheese, as long as lean meats are used like the ham, and as long as the crust is thin. The thicker the crust, the more calorie values contained therein.
