DIET TIPS THAT WORK FOR WEIGHT LOSS RESULTS

Diet Article containing tips for losing pounds permanently and safely, helping you reach your weight loss goals.

This little four letter word has caused much grief and misery!

Diets - Animals vs Mankind

In the case of animals, they forage naturally.  In other words, if you had the advantage of following the tracks of a critter in the wild, you'd see that they are very adept in discovering and finding the nutrients that they need for survival. Most critters aren't packed with unwanted weight.

In the case of mankind, we are able to concoct goodies that taste out of this world with fat and caloric values that are out of this universe.

We forage for our foods at the market, then once home, we make our healthy foods into highly fattening foods and eat until we almost pop. It's very difficult to resist that slice of heaven, hot out of the oven.

If animals could cook, what a different world this would be.

Daily Dieting Tips for Losing Pounds

One of our favorite weight loss tips for our readers involves doing something that any dieter can do - eat slowly. Slowing down while you eat allows the body time to enjoy your food while giving the stomach time to tell your brain that you're full. This requires about 20 minutes from the time the food or beverage enters the digestive system.

Consume your meals in a pleasant environment. These days most individuals as well as families don't even know what a dining table is; they tend to eat in front of the television or computer. The reason why this isn't the best choice for an eating environment, particularly for dieters is because when our focus is on another thing we eat without realizing what we've eaten.

How many times have you been at the movies and reached into your popcorn container only to find it empty? What about while at home watching a program while eating cookies and drinking milk? You may have started out holding the bag of cookies and intending only to enjoy two or three at most and you suddenly discover that the entire bag is gone.

One of my favorite personal stories involves my beloved uncle and whenever I use this example to individuals seeking tips to lose those extra pounds, I can't help but to think about him. The example I used isn't far from what he experienced. He had sat down to watch a movie one day at my parent's house - The River Wild with Kevin Bacon and Meryl Streep which is an intense thriller from start to finish. My mother had prepared a plate of brownies and made the mistake of setting the tray to close to my uncle. At the end of the movie, the lights went on and he said, "We'll I'll be dog, I ate the entire plate of brownies."

Therefore, plan to eat your meal in an environment in which you can enjoy eat bite of food - where you can experience the chewing movements associated with eating. Your brain needs to register this activity which will assist in satisfying your chewing needs as well as registering the foods that you ate to satisfy appetite.

In addition to dining in a pleasant atmosphere, take care with the presentation of your plate. Using a smaller plate and drinking vessel will also trick the brain into thinking that you're enjoying more food. When large plates, glasses and cups are used we are inclined to fill them up as we've been trained from childhood not to waste anything, particularly those of us who grew up in a very poor environment with little money for food. Everything had to be used to its fullest capacity; food was precious.

As an experiment the next time that you prepare your meal take particular care with how you arrange it on the plate. If you are having a salad with your meal, place it into a separate serving container; again one that isn't too large and is smaller than you're used to using. Use a small plate to dine off of as well. It should be a bit larger than the average saucer - a small plate, not the regular dinner plate. In addition, use a glass or cup that is on the small side.

Also take out the plate and drinking vessel that you would have normally used. First fill the small plate with your food as well as the drinking glass. Now transfer the food into the larger plate. Transfer your beverage into the larger glass. How does the presentation look? How does it differ from small plate to large plate?

When the food is placed onto the small plate our eyes register 'full and generous plate'. When the same amount of food is placed onto the large plate our eyes register 'something is missing - and why is there so much room on my plate'. In summary, we tend to eat with our eyes. By using the smaller eating vessels we can trick our eyes into believing that we are getting a lot of food on our weight loss plan. And the additional perk is that the smaller plate is probably going to be a better fit as to the amount of food currently allowed in your diet plan.
