Dress Up Your Boring Diet

Take your diet from bland to grand!

Boring diets are for the birds!  Just take a look at the Plain Jane Yam above compared to Wild & Crazy Yam.  

Although both look diet delicious, which looks like the most fun?  Well, it's Wild & Crazy Yam, of course!

But here's the Diet Trick....  You need your diet to be fun because if it's boring, it's just not going to last. And going from Boring Diet to Fun Diet often means increasing the fat and calorie content.  

BUT, if we do that, we certainly won't lose the weight that we want to lose.  So that's the twist and the reason why we have to discover ways to make our diet fun without increasing the fat and calories.

A few ways to add fun into our diet without increasing the fat and calories is to incorporate any of the following:

 


no calorie butter spray

light products, such as Light Mayo

no calorie sweeteners, such as Splenda

no calorie cooking sprays

substituting applesauce and fruits for oil in our recipes

herbs for seasoning power

extracts for bursts of flavor

Let's take our Boring Yam above and transform it into fun Wild & Crazy Yam.  As a note, Plain Jane Yams are actually extremely delicious but if we have our yams (or other food) 'plain' day in and day out, then the diet gets boring.  We're just using the yam as an example - so here we go!

PLAIN JANE YAM

 Yam Calories: 125

1 Tablespoon of Butter:  100

Total Calories: 185

Total Fat: 11 grams

FUN WILD & CRAZY YAM

Yam Calories: 125

No Calorie Butter Spray: 0 Calories

1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar: 30 Calories

1/2 Teaspoon of Cinnamon: 0 Calories

Total Calories: 155

Total Fat: 0 grams

Oh my, the fun yam actually has less calories and fat!  Imagine that, just by incorporating a little savvy planning.
