Sugar & Fat, Weight Gain

Two Elements Chiefly Responsible for Weight Gain in the American Diet - Eliminate These & Weight Gain Would be Conquered

Two of the main reasons why we-Americans keep getting bigger and bigger each year are sugar and fat.

If these two elements could be avoided - or at least, greatly minimalized, we'd never need to worry about weighty issues again.

Calories in Sugar Which Lead to Stored Body Fat When Consumed in Excess

It holds about 800 calories per cup - whether it's white granulated, light brown, dark brown, powdered or crystallized sugar.

It's found in most of the foods that we eat - whether natural or processed. As you'll see below, it can even be found in cheeseburgers and other foods that we enjoy for our main course at meal times.

The bad thing about sugar is the more we eat, the more we want. It's rather an addictive element.

Calories in Fats

One Tablespoon of almost all fats contain about 120 calories. That's close to 2,000 calories per cup.

Given that many individuals put about 1/3 cup of butter or margarine on their food at meal time - in addition to eating fried foods that were drowned in oil, and then dipping them in fatty sauces while adding rich fatty sauces to their vegetables - and salads, at times they are consuming more energy values in the form of dietary fats than contained within the natural foods on their plate.

Take note that MINIMAL fat in the daily diet is necessary to good health. However, almost-all natural foods contain hints of dietary fat - even carrots, lettuce and other healthy vegetables. Fruits too! Keep in mind that we get most of our cooking oils from natural foods.

Sugar Grams in Food

We have included both natural and processed foods on our list so that you can readily compare the differences. Even cheeseburgers, chicken pot pie and other main food courses can contain sugar grams.
