The key to achieving weight loss success is both simple and complicated. If we were to cut all the foods from our diet that aren't included in the basic food groups, it is highly likely that we would lose unwanted weight over time, reaching our ideal or our recommended weight. This means enjoying fresh fruit over desserts that include a small amount of fruit combined typically with flour, fat and sugar - and a few spices, depending upon the receipe used. Sticking to the Food Groups also means enjoying our vegetables raw or steamed rather than fried in fat and dipped into more fat - and let's not forget all that fattening breading and batter. Salads would be of the virgin variety - lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and drizzled with a fruit-based dressing that's low in caloric content and fat grams. When a dieter embraces healthy foods from the Food Group it means eating meats that aren't fried in fat or dipped in anything that echoes 'creamy ranch'. Our grains would come in the form of whole grains rather than highly processed and doused with fat and sugar. Our dairy selections would be wholesome - not mined with chocolate syrup. Together the Food Groups form a Balanced Diet - and not just a diet, rather a DAILY diet. In order for nutritional benefits of foods to have an impact on our weight and our state of health, we must continue to feed our body healthy foods daily. We can't eat anything and everything that we want one day, then eat wise the next - then eat like a wild man for the following week, then hop back onto the Health Food Wagon. Doing such cancels out health benefits our body receives on those days when we were good, when we were in total control of our daily. Simply put, the body requires time to process the nutritional benefits of the foods and beverages that we consume throughout the day but for those benefits to make themselves known, we must continue to eat wise daily. This cannot be emphasized enough for anyone wanting to get off those bothersome, uncomfortable pounds. An occassional splurge is acceptable as long as the individual stops and gets right back to their smarter daily diet. The trouble with spluring while trying to lose weight is that the individual has an issue with consuming too much food - a food addiction. For most, splurging is enough to bump the dieter right off their diet plan and back onto their former daily diet - one that's mined with too much dietary fat, too many calories and too much sugar. A Balanced Diet incorporates a variety of healthy foods and identifies the specific amount of foods that our body requires throughout the day. So it's not just the matter of choosing healthy foods but also the correct serving sizes for managing weight. In addition, foods work with other foods to trigger the release of nutrients throughout the body. For example, if you eat turnips with beans and grains, the vitamin C in the turnips will enhance the absorption of the nonheme iron in the beans and grains. As you can see, getting a Balanced Diet not only translates into a healthier body, but also a trimmer body.
