Diet She Said, He Said

SHE SAID......

Q. My husband is a fat bald pig!  I am totally serious!  All he does is watch TV, eat, belch and pass gas.  On rare occasions when we do go out, he takes me out to eat. And because of this I have gained 40 pounds in 2 years. I feel that it is all his fault that I have gained this weight. 100% HIS FAULT!!!!  He says that it is my fault that I gained the weight. Who is right?  I am sorry to be sounding off but I need help in settling this argument. ~ Jane from Wisconsin

A. Jane, baby - sit down and take ten or your new last name just might be Doe.  Unless your hubby tied you up and force-fed you, it's not his fault.  This is sort of like...pregnancy.  If you got pregnant (under normal circumstances), would it be 100% his fault that you got pregnant?

Did he contribute to your 40-pound weight gain?  Perhaps to a degree, because it appears that his attention is focused on The Fear Factor and Judge Judy rather than Jane from Wisconsin, and yes, that could a provoke an eating disorder.  On the other hand, he is taking you out - and it appears quite frequently due to that 40 pound weight-gain.

I would suggest that you opt for active entertainment whenever the two of you go out, hopefully together.  If you can't seem to get away from the restaurant scene, try making healthier choices at the restaurant, and taking a long walk afterwards.

In addition, every once-in-a-blue-moon, try renting a romantic movie; enjoy some 'lite' popcorn as you watch, and keep a roll of antacid tablets handy in the event belching ensues, and an adjustable cork for other gassy accidents.~Sky at Diet Bites
