Low Fat, Low Calorie Recipe for Lofty Angel Biscuits
Sprinkle yeast in the warm water. (Water should be warm, not hot.) Sprinkle on 1/2 Teaspoon of sugar. Allow mixture to stand until foamy, about 5 minutes. While yeast mixture rests, combine flour, remaining sugar, baking powder & soda, and finally the salt. Cut in the margarines until dough resembles coarse meal. Add the milk mixture and your yeast mixture, which should now be foamy. Gently stir until just combined; do NOT over mix or dough will be tougher than a troll's toenails. Cover and allow to rest in a warm spot for about 20 minutes. Note: The dough will not double. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Roll out rested dough into a giant triangle. You may need additional flour during rolling time. GENTLY roll into a 10 inch by 5 inch triangle. Your dough should be about 1/2 inch thick. Use a 2 inch biscuit cutter to cut out the Lofty Angel Biscuits and place onto a baking sheet that has been sprayed with non stick cooking spray. Note: Be sure and dip your cutter into flour to discourage dough from sticking to your cutter. Be sure to four layers in your biscuts. To do such, put your hands on the short ends of the dough of your giant triangle and fold so as the ends meet in the middle. Next, simply fold the dough in two. You should now have 4 layers.
