Low Calorie Asian Recipes & Caloric Content

Easy, Low Calorie Asian Recipes

There are so many foods in the Asian diet that are low in caloric content that can fit right into the most healthy of diet plans.

Here is a low calorie recipe collection created by Diet Bites and it's a great place to start.

Asian Style Asparagus Stir Fry

You will need the following ingredients to prepare our Asparagus Stir Fry: 1 medium sized bag of Asian style vegetables and if you can find one containing asparagus then all the better; fresh asparagus, sesame-ginger Asian sauce, extra virgin olive oil OR sesame oil, 1 cup of chopped chicken breast meat, and cooked white rice.

A good mix is water chestnuts, broccoli florets, grated carrots, chopped onions and a variety of bell pepper strips. If you prefer you can certainly prepare this recipe from scratch using a mix of these vegetables rather than using the frozen option.

Recipe Instructions:

Place about 1 Tablespoon of oil in a deep skillet and move it around so that the pan is fully coated with the oil. Heat the oil then added the chopped chicken. Stir to prevent over-browning and even cooking.

Add about two cups of fresh asparagus. Discard any parts of the stalk that aren't tender to the cutting knife. You'll want to cut the fresh asparagus into bite-sized pieces. Add the vegetables and allow to cook until tender, adding a bit of water if necessary. Covering with a lid will assist in steaming the vegetables so that they cook quicker.

Remove lid and add as much or little of the sesame-ginger sauce that you wish. We are big fans of the House of Tsang® sauces. All are delicious. Serve the asparagus mixture over a bed of prepared white rice.

Asian Refried Rice & Tender Pork

When using pork for this recipe we've found that thin pork chops are a great option. Simply remove the lean mean from the bone, then cut into bite-size pieces for the recipe.

Also, you'll need one boiled and peeled egg for this recipe as well as 1/4 cup of cooked, drained English peas. Frozen peas work very well and you can quickly prepare them as you are putting together the rest of the dish. One note: while frozen peas work well, canned ones tend to be too mushy for this recipe. And if you wish - you can omit the egg as well as the English peas.

Cook 1 cup of the lean pork in a thin layer of extra virgin olive oil. When done, remove from the pan. Add 2 cups of water to the skillet and stir to release the drippings of the pork from the pan. Bring to a boil and add two cups of Minute Rice. Cover pan with lid and remove from the heat.

While the rice finishes cooking, smash one boiled egg with a potato masher. You don't want the egg obliterated, just coarsely chopped. You can use a knife instead for the job if you wish.

Drain your cooked peas. Remove the lid from the rice and add 1/4 cup of Teriyaki sauce and a shot of soy sauce. Or you can opt for your favorite Asian sauce. Stir in the pork then carefully add the eggs and English peas.
