Weight Loss Advice: The Last Weigh
Dieter Lindy stepped on the weighing scales and cringed. How she'd managed to gain over 50 pounds during her summer vacation would forever remain a mystery. As she knitted her forehead - deep in thought she remembered that endless buffet on the cruise ship that seemed to go on and on - straight into infinity. And it had been filled with so many wonderful foods - from piping hot pizza oozing with melted cheese to cheesecakes of all varieties and flavors, her favorite being the white chocolate truffle version with raspberry sauce. Just thinking about that cheesecake was enough to trigger another five pound weight gain. Then again - it just wasn't the vacation that had triggered weight gain. It had all started amid last year's holiday celebrations - from Halloween in October to the first in January. She remembered gobbling down that five pound box of chocolates that her husband had given her as an expression of his love. And as it was the end of summer, the holidays would be arriving again - within a handful of weeks. Soon she'd be picking out the family pumpkin with a backside to match. That just couldn't be; she'd have to get low down and dirty with a restricted calorie weight loss plan and drop these unwanted fifty pounds before they arrived. It was as simple as that. She would begin her new diet come Monday. It just wouldn't work well to begin on a Friday, particularly as she and her husband were meeting friends for dinner - to catch up on the latest news and to share the events of Lindy's summer vacation with them. Dinner turned out to be grand. Because they had all decided to go dancing after dining, Lindy had decided to let herself go wild with the cheese enchiladas and refried beans. She topped off her meal with a rich caramel dessert. Everyone else followed suit - talking, drinking, eating far too much - so much that they all decided that they would go dancing another time. And because Lindy was concerned about how the over-dosage of fried beans might react on the dance floor, she was greatly relieved over the change of plans. As Monday arrived, so did a nasty cold. The people who had sat near her table at the restaurant on Friday night had been coughing like there was no tomorrow. Obviously, they were the culprit of her cold. As to dieting - who felt like dieting when one had a cold? And what was the old wise saying? Feed a cold and starve a fever. And that's exactly what Lindy did. The cold turned out to be a mini-flu leaving Lindy in dire straits for three weeks solid. Still - no diet. She felt as if she had no energy. Then her son's football coach asked her to volunteer her services for the homecoming game and of course, Lindy agreed without giving it a thought. It was grand - as was all the taste-testing and decision-making involved in setting up the event. She had to get on her diet plan. Only a couple more weeks until Halloween. Two weeks later, Lindy was picking up her autumn pumpkin at her favorite fruit stand in town, her backside even bigger than the pumpkin she finally settled upon purchasing. To her disappointment, she had hopped onto her bath scales before heading out only to discover she had added an additional 17 pounds to her body frame - one that was already bogged down in 50 pounds of unwanted weight. With almost 70 pounds to lose before the holiday - it was useless in trying to diet at this time of the year. This would be her final weigh.... In summary: It's never a great time to go on a weight loss plan. And it's not uncommon for an individual who is at their recommended weight to experience sudden weight gain related to over eating. And the longer dieting is put off, the more weight that is likely to pack on.
