Need some sweet recipes for your weight loss plan that are low in calories and fat content but still taste yummy? Then look no further...

If you have a sweet tooth the size of Texas then you're more likely to have a more difficult time losing weight than an individual who is a meat eater and who doesn't like sweet treats. Or an individual who is a fruit lover or vegetable lover and who doesn't like sweets.

Bread and fruit lovers tend to edge towards sweet things more often than not and may also experience issues in resisting sweet things.

The unfortunate thing about sweets and desserts is that they generally contain some type of sugar as well as some type of fat and they usually rule the recipe. The great news is that these can be controlled by using optional ingredients amid Diet Time.

Rather than brown and white sugars, sugar substitutes can be used. Splenda is particularly good for recipes which require heat as the sweetness does not fall apart amid the cooking process as with other sugar substitutes.

As to fat content, opting for mashed sweet fruits can keep recipes moist while adding flavor and nutritional values. And using fruit over fatty oils will keep the caloric content in check.

Fruit & Real Whipped Cream

It's difficult to beat fruit when it comes to calories, dessert and dieting. But these days it's very difficult to find sweet fruit at the market. Because there are so many people in the world our foods are altered so that everyone can be fed. Take the 'Delicious Apple'. Rarely will you find one that doesn't taste bland - actually, basically tasteless. Strawberries range from extra tart to bland. Peaches lack punch. Tangerines are mostly sour these days. And just try finding a really sweet grapefruit.

However, one food that's stood up well with modern processing techniques is the banana. I can almost-always count on my bananas being sweet. Therefore, they are generally the fruit of choice. However, there are those rare occasions when I'll purchase a fruit - like strawberries and they taste like a gift from heaven. On those rare occasions, I'll jet back to the market and purchase more.

When enjoying fruit you can opt for frozen topping but if you purchase real whipped cream in a can, you'll find that it contains about the same number of calories as the fake stuff and it's much easier on the digestive system. The light whipped cream in a spray can contains only 15 calories per serving.

Oatmeal, Fruit & Nuts

This works very well as a dinner choice when the sweet tooth is just begging for something sugary. I purchase the single packages of Oatmeal Maple & Brown Sugar and then I add a few ingredients of my own like chopped pecans or chopped walnuts as well as another spoon of dark brown sugar. Even with the nuts and extra sugar, the entire bowl contains about 225 calories. And oatmeal will keep me feeling full until the Sandman beckons.

Sweet Vegetables

Botanically speaking, many of the foods that we assume to be vegetables are really fruits. Note the sweet tones in many flower-blooming vegetables such as butternut squash, acorn squash and pumpkin.

When cooked and mashed they tasted so sweet and delicious with simply a spoon of light margarine added. But generally I go a step further and add any of the following: chopped walnuts or pecans, brown sugar, ground cinnamon and sometimes pumpkin pie spice. So yummy! And so healthy, too.
