Weight Loss Tips, Low Calorie Recipes for Mushrooms

Our gourmet mushroom sandwich will pair well with our Sundance Skinny Shake recipe. You will need the following healthy ingredients to prepare:

2 slices of whole grain bread (120 calories total)
1 serving of spicy brown mustard
1 large leaf of lettuce (about 5 calories)
slices of fresh red tomato & cucumber
roast beef from the deli, sliced very thin - only use the lean parts, remove visible fat
1 slice of reduced fat mozzarella cheese (50 calories)
sliced mushrooms that have been sauteed in a pan with a bit of cooking spray
1 serving of reduced fat margarine (40 calories)

To prepare spread the bread with the fat reduced margarine. Toast in a toaster oven, under the broiler of your large oven or in a pan on the stove top until the bread is golden brown.

Remove and spread with the mustard; add the leaf of lettuce to one slice of the toasted bread. Just to be clear, the toasted side of the bread will be the outside of the gourmet sandwich.

Add the tomatoes, mushrooms, cucumbers, roast beef and mozzarella cheese. Top with remaining slice of bread. Next, cut the sandwich into two four small triangles and enjoy them, eating very slowly. Our Sundance Skinny Shake goes very well with the roast beef sandwich.

Roast beef is very lean in fat and caloric values when only the leanest of the cut is used. For less than 50 calories per serving, you can add roast beef to not only our gourmet sandwich recipe above - but also to other dishes to liven-up their flavor. Here are a just a few suggestions that can assist in your weight loss plan.

Start by purchasing a lean beef roast at your local market. Cook until the meat is exceptionally tender - to the 'falling off the bone' stage. Rather than slicing, shred the beef. From this point you can add all sorts of sauces to create totally different recipes. You can add your favorite barbeque sauce and enjoy on mini-hamburger buns with a few onion and pickle slices.

You can marinate the beef in balsamic vinegar and add to salads for a gourmet flavor. Or you can marinate in a mix of soy sauce and teriyaki sauce and use in your next healthy stir fry.

You can take this simple basic meat - and take it into a million different directions. Just ensure that you use the healthiest additives to keep caloric and dietary fat content as low as possible.
