Silver Shadow, a Diet Shake Recipe

Serves 1 for about 130 calories

1 cup of diet cream soda
cup of low fat/light vanilla ice cream (130 calories per cup)

Simply spoon the reduced fat ice cream into a frosted glass. Pour in the diet soda and enjoy as soon as possible.

This light skinny drink is more float than shake - but oh my, what a steal when it comes to calories and the sipping pleasure that it brings.

Enjoy with a sandwich consisting of whole grain bread, fresh vegetables, lean proteins and low fat cheese. Smear on a yellow smile and you're set for a meal that can assist in dropping those excess pounds.

Spinach is so low in caloric values that it's enough to make a grown dieters cry out with joy.

One ten ounce package contains 65 calories and almost 7 milligrams of iron. One leaf contains a skinny 2 calories; you'll burn almost as many while you eat the leaf.

Spinach & Mushroom Tappas, a diet recipe

Recipe Ingredients:
1/2 cup of sliced mushrooms, any variety
1 cup of fresh baby spinach, raw form
1/2 cup of chopped onions
1/4 cup of Gruyere cheese, grated
1/2 teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce
extra tiny tart shells, pre-baked
salt and pepper to suit personal taste
non-stick cooking spray or a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil

Place the olive oil into a non-stick pan and add the spinach, sliced mushrooms, onions and salt and pepper. Allow to cook until the onions are translucent and be sure to turn the vegetables so that they do not stick. Add the Worcestershire Sauce and stir to combine.

Transfer to the baked tiny tart shells. Top with the Gruyere cheese. The cheese will melt very quickly from the heat; this is the best 'melter' when it comes to cheese. Serve immediately, while the dish is still warm.

Fruity Spinach Chicken, a diet recipe

You will need all of the ingredients above excepting the tiny tart shells. You will also need 1 cup of pan roasted, baked, boiled or grilled chicken cut into bite-sized chunks.

Increase the amount of Gruyere cheese to 1 cup and the Worcestershire Sauce to 1 Tablespoon. You will also need 1 teaspoon of yellow mustard, 1/3 cup of dried cranberries and 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans.

Increase the mushrooms to one cup and the spinach to 4 cups. The olive oil will increase to about 1 Tablespoon.

1 cup of pan roasted chicken, cut into bite sized cubes
1 cup of sliced mushrooms, any variety
1/4 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans
1/3 cup of dried cranberries
4 cups of fresh baby spinach, raw form
1/2 cup of chopped onions
1 cup of Gruyere cheese, grated
1 Tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon of yellow mustard
salt and pepper if necessary
non-stick cooking spray or a extra virgin olive oil

Prepare as instructed above, adding the chicken to the vegetables as they cook.

Stir in the mustard at the end of the cooking time; add the dried cranberries, Worcestershire, and the chopped nuts. Add the grated cheese and serve while warm.
