Wonton Wrapper Recipe
You can fill these little babies with healthy foods and they will fit into almost-any weight loss plan.
Try a mix of chopped broccoli, chicken and carrots. Be sure to add a bit of your favorite sauce to the mixture before filling the wonton wrapper. Also, you should cook any foods before adding them to the wonton wrapper as the wrapper doesn't take very long to cook.
You will need the following ingredients for this recipe:
3/4 teaspoon of salt
2 cups of all-purpose flour, sifted to a very smooth consistency
1/3 to 1/2 cup of lukewarm water
You may also have need of a bit of extra flour for sticking purposes. Start this recipe by beating the egg. Add the salt and about 1/4 cup of the lukewarm water to the beaten egg.
Next, place the all-purpose flour into a deep mixing bowl. Create a small indentation in the center of the flour mixture - a well of sorts. Add the egg mixture to the well.
Combine this mixture to form the dough. If the dough is too stiff, then you'll need to add just a bit more water. Be careful as to how much water that you add at a time because if you go overboard, the dough will be too loose and will require more flour.
Knead the dough for about five minutes. Next, it will need to rest a bit. It's tired you know - from all that kneading.
Cover the bowl which holds the kneaded dough with a damp cloth and allow to rest for about half an hour.
When you return to the dough, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll until thin and then cut into squares. You can make them large or small. You can even make triangles or rectangles or even circles rather than the traditional squares.
Simply fill the wonton wrappers with a mixture of your choice and drop into boiling water that has been slightly salted. Remove and enjoy with your favorite low calorie Asian sauce.
If you have leftover day - all the better. You can store it in the refrigerator in a sealed plastic bag to use the following day. The dough may freeze well - but take note that we have never tried this.
