Weight Loss Tips, Low Calorie Recipes for Quick Fruit Soups

Fruit soups fit the menu best amid hot weather days - or on early spring days when the promise of warmer weather looms over the horizon. Almost any fruit can made a tasty fruit soup but take note that they aren't very filling. These light, luscious concoctions are more like a sweet nectar break.

Fruit soups can be enjoyed with your meal or as a healthy snack. Because they are prepared with fresh, frozen or canned fruit they make a very healthy sweet fix. Generally, they are not a very thick consistency so thickeners need to be added to accomplish such.

If you like bold colors you can add a drop of food coloring to the pot. Be sure to stir thoroughly before transferring to a pretty serving dish. In addition, if you enjoy a sweeter fruit soup, then by all means - add a spoon of white table sugar, dark or light brown sugar or even sugar substitute to the recipe.

We recommend thoroughly washing the fruits, including melons and pumpkins before preparing to remove germs that may be the compliments of adult or kid shoppers - or compliments of the growers and harvesters.

Sweet Strawberry Fruit Soup Recipe, a low calorie dessert

Puree 1 pint of fresh, ripened strawberries. Add 1/4 cup of sugar OR you can opt to use Splenda that measures like sugar if you wish to save calories. Also add 1 teaspoon of vanilla or imitation vanilla. Store in the refrigerator until very cold; serve with mint leaves if desired.

You can use this same formula for many other fruits such as fresh peaches, blackberries, blueberries, mango, banana, pears and melon based soups.

Papaya Fruit Soup Recipe for Dieters

We created this recipe several years ago when papayas were on sale at our local market. For some, the papaya is an acquired taste; they may have a raunchy smell to them - a bit wild, but nothing distasteful or off-putting. It's just a very unique 'in the wild' scent.

The papaya goes exceptionally well with whipped topping. The two together are like a marriage made in heaven.

And the papaya is one of the lowest calorie fruit selections. One papaya-zilla contains only 336 calories. One small contains only 68 calories. One cup of chopped papaya contains about 60 calories.

Begin this recipe by peeling and seeding the fruit. Scoop out the flesh into a pot and use your hand-masher to create a juicy pulse. You can also blend the fruit if you wish.

Heat and add 1/4 cup of brown sugar and then remove from the heat. Allow to cook in the refrigerator; transfer to pretty serving bowls then top with the low fat whipped topping. Gently fold the topping into the papaya. Some very good eating!
