Diet Skinny Shake Recipe: The Gingersnap

Also Included in this Diet Article: Gingersnap calories, recipes with ginger.

Our diet friendly Gingersnap Shake is a snap to make - and so good that you'll be searching the area for sight of the mean old Diet Witch who resides in the gingerbread house in the woods. You know the one - lined in poison ivy and brambles.

But there's nothing Diet Evil or bad here - just our snappy diet wise Gingersnap Skinny Shake Recipe.

The Gingersnap, a Low Calorie Diet Shake Recipe

Serves 2 for about 138 calories each

1 ½ cups of ice cold fat free milk (about 135 calories)
2 crushed gingersnaps (60 calories worth)

1 small ripe banana
(80 calories)
1-3 ice cubes
plus sugar substitute if extra sweetness is desired

Blend ingredients until thick and frothy. Be sure to pulverize and blend the cookies well so that they are at a drinkable state. Enjoy this skinny shake while it is still cold.

Gingersnap cookies are low in calories as far as cookie selections go. In comparison, an Oreo contains 70 calories while a gingersnap contains less than one-half the amount of calories at 29 per cookie. They also make a wonderful topping when crushed.

In fact, you can add a squirt of 15 calorie reduced fat whipped cream to our shake recipe and then garnish with some crushed cookie if you wish. Cut the banana in half though to compensate for those extra calories - or allow for such in your weight loss plan caloric totals.

The following data chart contains the nutritional values of commercially produced gingersnap cookies. We'll follow the chart with a few savvy suggestions for dieters in regard to ginger.

Weight Loss Tips, Low Calorie Recipes for Ginger

If you have never tried crystallized ginger - oh boy, are you in for a delicious treat! It can be shaved and added to all sorts of recipes to deliver a unique flavor and enhance the recipe.

One of our favorite ways to use crystallized ginger is in Oriental stir fry recipes. Start with your basic lean meat; let's use extra lean strips of beef for this recipe. Next, we'll add our favorite orange-ginger Oriental sauce to the beef and cook in a pan on the stove top - or you can use a wok if you prefer.

Next we'll add our favorite selection of healthy vegetables including broccoli florets, snow peas, shredded carrot, chopped onion and water chestnuts. Finally we'll add just a bit of grated crystallized ginger. We'll serve this delicious stir fry over a bed of whole grain rice and we can even enjoy an eggroll with our meal.
