Weight Loss Tips Using Sherbet, Including Calories in Sherbet

Sherbet comes in so many different flavors - lime, orange, pineapple, raspberry and even Neapolitan. And it's much lower in calories and fat grams than the most basic plain-Jane vanilla ice cream, containing less than one-half the calories and more than ten times the total fat grams.

Let's review the nutritional data for both plain vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet; we can readily see the healthy differences. So if you're an ice cream lover, then sherbet might be an excellent alternative while you're on a weight loss plan.

One of the favorite ways that we like to serve sherbet is to match the flavor with a low calorie, flavored carbonated beverage. For example, orange sherbet goes excellently with zero calorie orange soda. Just add a scoop of the sherbet to a tall serving glass and pour on the orange soda. Be sure to allow ample room at the top because the soda will cause the sherbet to have a bit of bubbly volume.

You'll discover more tips for sherbet in the diet below the following nutrition data comparison chart.

Pineapple sherbet is complimented well with zero calorie citrus soda - such as Sprite, 7-Up, Mountain Dew and Squirt. And a scoop that is placed into a beautiful serving dish can be enhanced by anchoring a fresh mint leaf in the sherbet.

Orange Cake Recipe Ingredients

1 box of orange cake mix
2 whole eggs
vegetable oil
sour cream
1 teaspoon of orange extract
1 cup of orange sherbet, melted

How to Prepare Our Orange Cake Recipe

If you're having a party, you can prepare a large punch recipe using your favorite sherbet and pairing it with a complimentary fizzy soda. Use 2 liters of soda to every 1/2 block of a half-gallon of sherbet.

Melted sherbet can also be added to cake mixes in place of the recommended amount of milk.

A tasty recipe for orange cake is one box of your favorite orange cake mix, 1 cup of melted orange sherbet, 2 whole eggs and a teaspoon of orange extract.

The orange extract is totally optional as it can be rather difficult to find in some areas of the country.

Add only one-half of the recommended vegetable oil and the other half should be in the form of sour cream.

Use regular or the lower fat versions as both work well, but the regular sour cream will produce a bit moister cake.

Simply bake as directed on the package in a coffee cake, bundt or tube pan. Omit frosting to save fat and calories.
