Rich, filling - so plentiful that it serves 3 dieters easily - which will help cut the calories further still.

Non-Alcoholic Diet Drinks - Caramel Creme Diet Shake

Serves 3 for about 135 calories each

1 cups of ice cold reduced fat milk (135 Calories)
2-4 Tablespoons of Crushed Ice
1 Tablespoon of Caramel Topping (100 Calories)

1-3 packets of Splenda or Equal if extra sweetness is desired

1 Cup of Low Fat Whipped Topping (168 Calories)

Blend all ingredients except the whipped topping until thick and frothy. Add 1/3 cup of the topping to each of the diet shakes. Drizzle with a bit more caramel topping if desired. Serve in chilled glasses.

This skinny shake recipe is very versatile. You can add a splash of your favorite extract to the recipe - such as vanilla. You can sprinkle the top of the whipped topping with colored sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles for a few more calories. You can even use strawberry topping or chocolate topping rather than the caramel.

As we can see, the caramel is quite steep in caloric values. However, it is low in dietary fat - with one piece of caramel contains less than a gram of total fat. But at almost 40 calories per piece - we can do better than this, right?

One of my favorite caramel-like treats is a Werthers Original Caramel. Each disc contains a skinny 30 calories and takes a while to melt in the mouth.

The disc can also be added to coffee or tea to add a caramel flavor to the beverage for a small amount of calories. They also come in a variety of flavors and textures - from coffee flavor to soft caramel.

Caramel popcorn is another great treat that can be enjoyed for a small amount of calories. It contains 122 calories per ounce. Each kernel can be slowly enjoyed, therefore making it an excellent option for caramel lovers.

And finally, for an occasional dessert treat - check out the caramel flans at your local market. Some are available pre-made while others come in a box and will require the addition of milk and a bit of cooking. For only 220 calories per 1/2 cup serving, the caramel flan won't blow your weight loss plan to smithereens.
