Galloping full-throttle across the hot and barren Diet Desert, The Antelope brings us hope for weight loss as we spy a cool Diet Oasis in the distance. Orange melon, vanilla - and a pinch of sweetness round off this tasty diet-friendly, diet  shake recipe.

Non-Alcoholic Diet Drinks - The Antelope

Serves 4 for about 56 calories each
4 cups of ice cold scooped cantaloupe (or your favorite melon)

4 ice cubes or a bit of crushed ice

4-6 packets of Splenda or Equal

1 teaspoon of REAL vanilla extract
 

Blend all the ingredients until slushy.  

Melon lovers can also create a tantalizing cool, cantaloupe soup by simply adding no calorie sweetener to the melon juice, a dash of ground cinnamon, a dash of ground nutmeg and a sprig of mint. Add a dollop of light whipped topping, if desired. Serve cold.

Easy Cantaloupe Soup Recipe, Chilled

You will need the following ingredients to prepare this low calorie, easy to prepare cantaloupe soup:

1 small cantaloupe, peeled with seeds removed (1 small melon contains 150 calories)
2 cup of Tropicana TROP50 Orange Juice (50 calories per cup)
1 Tablespoon of Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon (use more or less based on your personal taste)
Dash of Ground Nutmeg

Simply blend the cantaloupe with the TROP50 orange juice and lime juice in a blender until smooth. Be sure the cut the melon into bite-sized chunks so that they will blend easier. Remove; stir in the ground cinnamon and the nutmeg. Use only a dash of the nutmeg as it is a very powerful spice.

This recipe makes 4 very generous servings for about 65 calories per serving. Cantaloupe is extremely low in caloric values.

How low? Even a melon that is one-half a foot in diameter contains a skinny 277 calories.

And the melon is packed with a very generous dose of vitamin C - almost 300 mg per large melon. That's a little over a mg for each caloric contained within the melon.

And of course, being one of the gifts from Mother Nature's Good Earth, it's also very low in dietary fat content.
