This article contains a Monday through Sunday diet menu of low calorie recipes. Let's begin with Monday.... Marvelous Monday Diet MeatloafMeatloaf can fit into almost-any healthy weight loss plan. The key is using extra lean ground beef in your recipe. It's the main ingredient and therefore is most influential where caloric values are concerned. Using a leaner grade of meat will also cut dietary fat and the meat will not shrink as much amid the cooking phase. Assemble the following ingredients and cook in a preheated 350 degree oven until thoroughly done - about 40 minutes: 2 pounds of extra lean ground beef, 1 stack of saltine crackers crumbled, 1 large egg, salt and pepper. Form meatloaf and place into a loaf pan sprayed with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Spread catsup over the top. Arrange several rings of bell pepper and onion on the top. Terrific Tuesday TatorsMicrowave a medium potato; cooking time varies per microwave but mine will cook the potato in about five minutes. I don't have a high-end unit. Allow to cool until you can work with the potato without burning your hands. Cut in half, lengthwise. Scoop out the white flesh of the potato and set the skins aside. Add light margarine, salt and pepper to the potato flesh. Scoop and refill the skins with the potato mixture. Top with shredded reduced-fat cheese and place under broiler until cheese melts. Serve with light cream cheese. If you wish you can also add real bacon bits to the tops of the potato before broiling or to the potato mixture before filling the skins. Wonderful Wednesday WingsGrill the wings or roast them in the oven. Remove when they are done but still tender. Brush with honey that has been mixed with your favorite BBQ sauce. Return to oven and cook until the glaze is set. Enjoy with your favorite light ranch dip or dressing. Or with light, reduced fat sour cream. Tricky Thursday Turnips & Turnip GreensTurnips are not only low in calories, they are ultra easy to prepare. You can eat an entire pot of the things and you'll have only consumed a tiny bit of calories. Simply wash the greens and layer in a deep pot. Peel the turnips and cut into quarters. Place a slice of lean bacon in the pot for seasoning. Cover leaves with water and cook until the turnips are tender. Salt and pepper; enjoy with a wedge of cornbread. Fabulous Friday Fruit SaladIt's hard to be the healthy benefits of a raw fruit salad mix. Use a can of light fruit cocktail as your base and add your favorite fruits. Also add a bit of brown sugar for that extra pop, as well as a bit of grated sweet coconut. And toss in some healthy chopped pecans and walnuts while your at it. Sensational Saturday SirloinLean cuts of beef can certainly be a part of a healthy diet plan. Use a thin layer of extra virgin olive oil in the pan to prevent sticking as well as to add flavor. Simply sear the steak on both sides until golden brown. Be sure to salt and pepper before browning. Reduce heat and allow to cook until thoroughly done. Enjoy with steak sauce. Sunny Sunday SaladWhich vegetables are your favorite in their raw state? It's highly likely that most or even all of them will work well in a giant salad mix. Simply mix your favorites, add some lean chopped meat or drained beans - your favorite light dressing and enjoy. |
