Carbs in Flour

Written by Sky Taylor, Diet Bites

How carby is your flour - and how many calories are weighing it down?

Whether you're seeking flours with the most protein content or a flour lowest in calories, we've got the nutrition details outlined below.

As a Foodnote™, sugar tends to be a huge focus in the World of Nutrition because of its empty calories and derogatory health potentials, yet on average common flours contain about 400 per cup - about half the calories as table sugar.

At least flour contains healthy benefits for the daily diet as it lives within the Grain Group in the official Food Pyramid.

Because sugar and flour are the key ingredients in most baked goods, calorie content can easily implode before exploding  - along with our hips and thighs.

Given such, it's a smart practice to keep sweet bakery items to a minimum when dieting - or not, particularly when the two buddy-up with fat.

The Nutritional Values

In the first Flour Nutrition Chart below, we have sorted the flour types by calorie content, placing the focus on flour calories, carbs in flour, fat grams, dietary fiber and protein grams in fiber.

The second chart contains nutrition information for the calcium, iron, niacin, sodium and zinc content contained in flour.
