Satisfy your entire brood with tips that will have them flying to the table for healthy vegetables. Yes, even broccoli. Do you have picky family members when it comes to eating vegetables? What about family members who won't even touch their vegetables, much less look at them? If so, the following vegetable diet tips will take the Vegetable Feud out of the family! For Kids: Most kids are picky eaters, no matter if the topic is fruit, meat or vegetables. So 'we smart adults' try get around our kids dislike for vegetables by covering them up with cheese sauces, gravy and other unhealthy glazes that conceal the vegetables that are unappealing to our kids. Unappealing...hum, here's a thought. Kids appreciate aesthetics. Rather than covering up the vegetables, bring the best of the vegetables to life! Curl carrot strips, create cute radish roses and fill a hulled out pumpkin with yummy pumpkin and sweet potato soup. For adults that don't like vegetables: I have met a few adults who just don't like vegetables PERIOD. At this point, try to determine a few vegetables that the Adult Vegetable Disliker hasn't tried before. Example: Jicama is readily available at your market and tastes a bit (to Tom and I) like a cross between a crisp water chestnut and a potato. Jicama is delicious chopped into stir frys. So you might create a jicama stir fry with a bit of lemon pepper chicken. Try other vegetables in this fashion and you just may find a few that your Adult Vegetable Disliker likes. Also, try to determine how the vegetables that they have tried were prepared in the past. Example: Your Adult Vegetable Disliker may not like boiled beets but they may go ga-ga for pickled beets. Adults that will eat vegetables but would rather not: Now it's time to cover up the vegetables. Bring on the glazes, spices and extracts for these adults! Glaze carrots with a bit of brown sugar and cinnamon; add a dash of lemon pepper to those grilled onions, add a spoon of strawberry jam to a stirfry mix of shredded cabbage, shredded carrots and broccoli. May all your veggie eaters be healthy, wealthy and wise!
