I've been on so many fad diets - as well as several gimmicky weight loss plans in my life that over those years I lost my 'normal' weight several times over. From fad diets to fascinating diet plans, I tried just about all of them at one time or another before I finally popped down to my recommended weight.

Through all these diet plans, I sure learned a lot.

For one, I learned that I made a lot of dieting mistakes. I learned that I wasn't giving myself a healthy diet while dieting. I learned that I could lose weight, sometimes quickly, but I would always gain it back quickly along with a few extra pounds that I certainly didn't want or need.

I learned that I didn't like to exercise, so I did my best to avoid those diet plans that incorporated a lot of exercise. It got to a point to where I avoided all diet plans that incorporated ANY exercise at all - that's how much I didn't like exercising.

During these phases of dieting, I always had the feeling that I was free floating - never quite certain about what I was doing while I was trying to lose weight. I wasn't certain about the foods I was putting into my plan. I was always clueless as to were the diet plan would take me - and if I would even succeed at all! I needed a Diet Parachute in a big way!

From the very start you must have goals in mind or you'll get that feeling of being 'lost in the woods' like I did. Forget weight charts that recommend a particular weight. We have quite a few at Diet Bites - but seriously, you have a very good idea of how many pounds that you need to lose.

If you have a staggering amount of weight to lose and feel overwhelmed - then set a goal of fifty pounds at time. Each time you reach the set goal, you'll realize an accomplishment and that can fuel your motivation to continue losing pounds.

Best Foods to Eat While Dieting

We've also have scads of free diet plans. Return to our homepage and you can find enough free diets there to keep one occupied for months. Most come with free detailed menus. While all of these different plans can assist in creating a pattern or a guide to use while losing weight, the central truths of the matter fall within these guidelines:

- Eat 3 balanced meals per day containing foods that are as near to their natural state as possible.

- Also enjoy 1-2 snacks such as fresh fruit, jerky or low fat dairy products like a wedge of cheese with whole grain crackers.

- Speaking of whole grains, make them the choice where the Grain Group is concerned.

You must KNOW from the beginning of your diet plan that you're going to succeed in dropping all the extra pounds. When I went on my final diet, that is how I approached losing weight. There was not a doubt in my mind that I was going to lose each and every one of those pesky pounds. This is how my final diet differed from all the others.
