Dieting: Candy Gram for Your Diet

A sweet message for dieters and chocolate lovers alike.

The majority of dieters whiz off to Diet Fantasy Land leaving all the fond foods they loved behind. The troubling thing about dieting is that some foods that are considered taboo really aren't evil at all. Take candy... NO! Not a handful of candy. Just a few pieces will do.

Now take a look at the candy that you have in your hand. We see some dark chocolate which has been proven in science and nutrition studies to be beneficial to your health.

Keep in mind that the key word is DARK chocolate. Now of course - we can't pop handfuls of luscious dark chocolate into our mouth and expect to lose a lot weight, even though there is a fad Chocolate Diet that will tell you that you can do just that. I'm sorry, but you can't. I know. That would have been lovely. However, you can enjoy a piece or two now and then.

Hershey's candy puts out a dark chocolate  bar and four generous sections of the dark chocolate contain only 180 calories and 13 grams of fat.

Rather than consuming four blocks of dark chocolate, stick to enjoying only two. That's only 115 calories and about 6 grams of dietary fat. Not bad for a really nice treat. Or, space a few blocks of the dark chocolate throughout the day for your snacks.

Energy Calories & Fat Calories

If you're watching your weight, it's not on 'caloric values' that count but also the percentage of calories contained within the food which is derived from fat - saturated and Trans fats in particular. If the daily diet is mined with foods that are extreme in dietary fat content, then the dieter isn't going to be able to enjoy a lot of food in their diet menu as foods that are high in fat are also high in caloric value.

In addition, foods as well as beverages such as shakes and malts that are high in fat have the ability to create the following:

A build-up of fatty tissues around vital organs as well as in the circulatory system which can lead to heart related diseases and ailments, including stroke;

A percentage of body fat that is inconsistent with weight;

Cravings for foods that are rich in fat. In addition, foods that are rich in fat are often rich in sugar content, thus the individual will also experience sugar cravings.

Excess fat in the diet puts the individual at high risk for weight gain.

Weight gain is associated with a plethora of diseases and ailments - from high blood pressure to high cholesterol to diabetes.

Even thin and skinny people who consume too much dietary fat may suffer the effects of fatty-tissue build up, heart disease and stroke.

Candies to Temporarily Satisfy Hunger

Here are a few more candies that work to temporarily satisfy your hunger without blowing your diet plan. But again, beware of the amount of fat that the candy may contain - and limit to ensure that you stay on your weight loss plan:

diet grazingMilky Way Light - 1 bar for 160 calories, Charleston Chew - 1 stick for about 80 calories, Zero Bar - 1 bar for about 230 calories, 1 Milk Chocolate Hershey Bar for about 230 calories, 1 large marshmallow for about 20 calories. Jelly Beans contain about 10 calories each.

Keep in mind that you can always cut the candy bar in half and enjoy that at another time.

A healthy diet is essential in accomplishing weight loss success, but a diet without any treats at all can make reaching your weight loss goal brutal.

As to dietary fat content, it must not be totally eradicated from the daily diet as the consequences are alarming - from loss of hair to brittle nails - to unpadded organs which make them susceptible to injury.
