Diet Apocalypse

The end of dieting as we know it.

There was Diet Time long, long ago that was built on Sego, Aids (a chocolate diet candy about the size of a Chunky square), grapefruit and machines with belts that wiggled the fat from the dieter's hips.

Obviously, these diet tools were pretty bad; none worked either. I remember my very cuddly father going on the Aids diet.

My brother and I were always trying to steal the little chocolate candy which were actually diet squares supposedly filled with nutritious goodness a mystery weight loss miracle.

Of course, we also tried stealing the chocolate squares from the X-Lax carton, too.

My, how we loved chocolate.  I guess that my dad must have eaten his way though a dozen boxes of those diet candies before he ditched that diet plan.

He also tried the grapefruit diet. Whenever we would see someone that we didn't like, we'd run and get dad when he was on this diet because his breath would knock over a herd of roosters, combs and all.

Dad wasn't much however, on the canned diet drinks.  Sego was ultra popular before Slim Fast made its debut in the Diet World.

So many diets, mostly fad diets at that time, and now they are gone - whisked away in the annals of Diet Time.

What does the future hold for dieters?  A magic pill that melts off weight? One that controls or eats up excess calories?  Or will genes be altered before birth to create the perfect body that will outlast time?

Eeek. That's a bit too scary for me. Diet candy sounds a bit more appealing....
