Calorie Values in Krispy Kreme Cake Donuts & Cinnamon Twist

When these donuts hit the ground - they did such running. I remember lines of customers standing outside of the building - just waiting to get inside and see their donuts being made. It was quite a unique, entertaining and fun experience.

Now Krispy Kreme's can be found almost everywhere - from convenience stores to the grocery market.

While they are delicious, while dieting you'll need to account for the caloric content if you opt to have one as a treat, dessert or as a rare snack. Note that we mentioned 'rare'; it's not so much due to the caloric content - but to the fatty acid distribution.

Most of the menu selections are the cake-based donuts.

They are a big favorite of many consumers who prefer them over the yeast recipe. The Traditional Cake version makes the best choice in this group. It's lowest in Kcal content as well as total fat and carbohydrate grams.

Speaking of carbohydrate grams, when we're discussing donuts and other sugary sweets, more often than not these selections will fall into the Simple Carbohydrate category as they offer less nutritional values than complex options.

So for about 250 Kcals, one can enjoy a Traditional Cake Donut. The Glazed Cruller is a tab up in values but nothing substantially, so it's also a good choice.

The best choice in the above chart would be the Cinnamon Twist for a tab over 200 Kcals. The carbohydrate grams are a bit steep but the total fat gram content is relatively low in comparison to the other selections.

Addition of Fruit Can Be Deceptive

While the pumpkin and apple versions contain a bit of fruit, the negative values in the entree cancel out the health benefits. And there really isn't a substantial amount of fruit in the choice - particularly not enough to create one serving size from the Fruit Group. At this point, the dieter is best in doing the 'Twist'.
