Beef Bullion Diet Recipe & Calories in Bull Shot, a Mixed Alcoholic Drink

Calories are for one Bull Shot as generally served in public:

1 fluid ounce of Vodka

6 Ounces of Beef Bouillon

Dash of salt & pepper

Dash of Tabasco Sauce

Dash of Worcestershire Sauce

Bull Shot Calories & Carb Grams

One Bull Shot mixed drink contains about 90 calories and 1.5 carb grams.

One fluid ounce of Vodka contains about 82 calories. Beef bouillon is very low in calories - about 5 - 15 calories per tiny cube depending upon brand used; on the other hand it's extremely high in sodium content. One lower sodium beef bouillon cube contains 38 mg of sodium and makes a wiser choice over regular beef bouillon cubes which contain 611 mg of sodium.

Worcestershire Sauce and Tabasco Sauce are nominal in caloric content. Worcestershire contains 13 calories per Tablespoon; Tabasco contains 1 calorie per teaspoon.

Alcohol is steep in calories. One jigger of Vodka contains more than 100 calories.

Diet Recipe Featuring Beef Bullion

Beef bullion is exceptionally low in caloric content as noted above. If you're unconcerned about sodium consumption it can assist in weight loss in a myriad of ways - such as a simple cup of beef bullion prepared with boiling water or in the following Diet Bites recipe for Beef Noodle Soup.

Ingredients Needed to Prepare This Diet Recipe

2 cups of cooked egg noodles
3 ounces of extra lean beef cut into tiny cubes that are bite-sized
1/2 cup of sweet onions, chopped
1/2 cup of celery, chopped into bite-sized pieces
1 cup of carrots - again, small pieces
3-4 beef bullion cubes
water, salt & pepper, cooking spray

In a deep pot cook the onions and celery in the cooking spray until they appear clear. Add the raw lean beef; stir to keep from sticking. When beef appears brownish add about 3 cups of water along with the carrots. Although canned drained carrots can be used, I find they have a unique taste that just isn't as good as fresh carrot. But if you don't have fresh carrots in your pantry - by all means, grab the canned ones. I do the same.

When the carrots are tender, add the beef bullion cubes. You'll also need to keep adding water every now and then - because you want your soup to have some broth. So make it as broth based as you wish. And if you prefer - at this stage you can cook down all of the liquid - add the cooked egg noodles and 1/2 cup of reduced fat sour cream for a delicious, rich noodle dish.

For the soup, add more water for broth - and feel free to adjust the amount of beef bullion in your soup. It simply depends upon how beefy and how salty that you like your soup. Finally add the egg noodles. Enjoy with a wedge of cornbread and light margarine and a glass of unsweetened tea. It's mighty tasty.
