Calories in Food - Calorie Charts - Calorie Tables - Calories Defined & Calories & Their Importance in the Diet
Dieter Calorie Question: What are calories? Diet Bites Calorie Answer: Calories are a common word for energy. Most everything that you eat and drink contains calories. Some foods contain more calories that others. Dieter Calorie Question: Which foods contain the most calories? Diet Bites Calorie Answer: Desserts are rich in taste and rich in calories. There are two chief culprits in our diet that work to sabotage weight loss, those being sugar and fat. Both sugar and fat contain an arsenal of calories. Fat is essential in our diet for optimum health, calories or not! Sugar has virtually zero nutritional value, and although it contains a lot of calories, sugar does provide quick energy and it lifts our spirits, especially if those sugar calories are laced with....chocolate. Dieter Calorie Question: How many calories do I need each day? Diet Bites Calorie Answer: This is what makes dieting very difficult. Everyone is different and therefore requires a different amount of calories per day to function. Mandy may enjoy 1,700 calories each day while Frank enjoys 2,700 calories each day. Both can maintain their normal weight, while having different calorie requirements. Dieter Calorie Question: Okay - FINE, but that's a slipshod answer. Give me something to work with, will you? How many calories are best while dieting? Diet Bites Calorie Answer: Some weight loss gurus recommend as low as 1,000 calories per day while dieting. We do not agree with that number as we fear it puts the body at great risk, especially for someone trying to lose a lot of weight and who is currently consuming a lot of calories. The sudden drop can send the body into a tailspin. Our first answer is to recommend the dieter to seek their doctor's advice - not an online nutritionist's advice - one that may not even exist!! The Internet is full of bull, so take whatever you read with a grain of salt and search out the truth. Now, should you want pin us to the wall, we frown on any diet that goes below 1,200 calories per day. And that is assuming that the dieter isn't the most active apple in the bunch. If the dieter is active, then those calories must be bumped up to accommodate. And again, for those dieters who are used to consuming a lot of calories per day, they should seek the advice of their doctor for guidance. Dieter Calorie Question: How much weight will I lose if I consume 1,500 calories per day and pursue an active lifestyle (i.e. walking 2 miles per day in addition to your normal daily routine). Diet Bites Calorie Answer: Again, the results are going to be staggered for several reasons. If a dieter has a lot of weight to lose, the weight will come off much quicker than the dieter who only has a few pounds to lose. That decrease in calories for the 'bigger dieter' is the denomination factor. However, we can tell you that a good number to aim for is a two pound per week weight loss. This allows for the loss of TRUE fat rather than muscle or temporary water weight. By the way, speaking of water, it contains zero calories. What a beverage!
