Planning for Weight Loss, How to devise a fool-proof plan for weight loss

You would never think about taking off on a journey without first studying a map and devising a route to your destination.  When you begin, you will know your destination, the roads that you want to take, and perhaps any construction that is going on that might slow you down.

You will also want to make sure that you get to your destination safely, so you'll check the tires, the fluids in the vehicle and the belts.  And you'll want to fill up before you take off.  

And finally, you'll have a few bags packed that contain the items that you need, and you'll have a very good idea of what time you will be arriving at your destination.

Although all of these things are related to a physical journey, they also apply to your weight loss journey.  The fastest, safest route, the hurdles that you'll face, the visit to the doctor that you'll need to make to be sure that you're up to the weight loss journey, and the approximate time that you'll arrive at that magic number on your weight loss scales.

Once you have an idea of where you want to go on a trip, I'll bet that the next thing that you do is look at your personal calendar.  What month is it?  What time of year?  What will the weather be like?  What about lodging rates and so forth.

Again, the same applies to dieting.  Timing is vital to your weight loss success. A diet that ensues during the holidays almost always fails, as does a diet during stressful personal times.

So put on that thinking cap and devise a plan.  

Look at your personal calendar. Is it a good time to lose weight?  Using a two pound per week loss of weight, how long should your diet take?  What hurdles will you face?  Are you prepared for those hurdles?  Do you have a backup plan for when the munchies hit?  Planning ahead ensures a safe, healthy, successful weight loss journey.
