Why the Words Obese, Fat, Plump, Porky, Fleshy, Tubby, Stout, & PortlyShould be Eliminated From the English Language!Can you say offensive? Face it, these words are not kind. They are humiliating and extremely destructive to one's self-respect or dignity. Read on to learn some tips that can be used to overcome society's mold... Just look at all those degrading words! It's a total negative wipeout! Other than a hot fudge sundae smothered in whipped cream, negativity is the last thing anyone needs when they're attempting to get fit. When someone verbally attacks an individual with these-type words, it can leave emotional scarring that may never totally go away. Even an apology may not be enough to mend the detrimental damage these words may cause. Take a moment and think back to when you were in school as a child. For some reason, there was usually one child in the class that everyone else picked on because they were different. They were either quiet, or unattractive (according to kid-standards), or acted a bit peculiar. The other kids may have feared this individual. However, if one will peer into this mirror a bit deeper, they may find that people ridicule other people because they do not understand an individual. This inability to understand another human really bothers some people. One way that people get around their insecurity is through 'word leverage'. Another reason that brings cruel words into play is jealously. Even though one person may be overweight, another person may be jealous of their looks, or of their possessions, their children, even their success. To 'balance' the relationship, they use degrading words. They may even do this is a joking way. Sometimes the approach can be blunt. No matter what form of delivery, the words almost always are intended to hurt another individual. If you are overweight and one of these 'nasty' words comes into play, try the tips listed below. If you know someone who is overweight, take care not to offend. A true friend will offer support.
