Step #1 Where Do I Begin
My Weight Loss Quest?

Written by Diet Bites

Where to Start When it Comes to Losing Weight - Baby steps, taking 1 step at a time.

You may think, "I've wanted to lose weight before and I've tried but it didn't work."

You may have lost a few pounds or an entire bushel but it wasn't eternal.

So, did you truly want to lose weight?

Sure you did!

Did you want to paste back on the pounds you'd struggled so hard to lose?

No way!

Then why did you gain back the weight?

Simply because you lacked the necessary motivation to keep you on track. Don't give up! Start here for a new beginning!

Everyone has a secret for losing weight these days. For $59.95 - $379 per month you are promised weight loss success. I once saw an advertisement that promised a weight loss drop of 20 pounds in two days. Outrageous, isn't it?

However, these folks must be selling the snake oil or they couldn't afford the advertisement. If you'll notice, there's generally a two-page glossy ad featuring a young woman with a size two figure dressed in a string bikini.

Wouldn't everyone like to look like that? Unless you're a male, of course. But add LOTS of hair, Viking thighs, a sculptured belly, some roller-bar arm muscles - and perfect pecs in the place of perfect breasts and well…I'm sure you get the picture.

The thing about secrets is there aren't many 'true secrets'. Every time someone hears a 'secret' they want to tell someone else about it; then it's no longer a secret.

On that note I would like to share the 'best kept secret' to losing weight.

There is only one; the rest are merely tips to help get you to your weight goal at a faster pace.

Are you ready? The one and only secret to losing weight is the true desire to WANT to lose the weight and become fit.

Motivation is the tricky part. You may think, "Well, I've wanted to lose weight before and I've tried but it didn't work." You may have lost a few pounds or an entire bushel but it wasn't eternal.

So, did you truly want to lose weight? Sure you did! Did you want to paste back on the pounds you'd struggled so hard to lose? No way!

Then why did you gain back the weight? Simply because you lacked the necessary motivation to keep you on track.

You had the desire along with the new weight equipment, recipes and maybe a doctor's prescription, but with all those tools you were unable to keep the weight from piling back on.

Many people feel that being overweight is an example of one's success in life.

If you are overweight, then you are a failure. If you are thin, then all things are possible in life.

This just isn't true!

Body Weight is a Personal Choice But Difficult to Manage Due to Its Eating Addiction Properties

Being overweight is not a directive; it's a choice. It's a personal choice. It's your choice.

If you WANT to lose weight, then you can. Diet Bites will show you how. This site originated with YOU in mind. It's totally free - and strives to keep you motivated through your weight loss process.

Think about this.

Do you remember when you were a child and you played 'car-cars' or with your dolls, or when you skated or biked or played hoops?

If you are like me, I had one specific thing that I liked to do. I loved playing with my Barbie doll. My parents were so poor that mine was generic, but I named her Barbie all the same. I would spend hours playing in Never-Never Land. It was happy there. I never felt lonely because I had Barbie to keep me company.

Then one day - quite suddenly - I found that I no longer wanted to play with Barbie. Oh, I tried but I couldn't get my heart back into Never-Never Land. I just didn't WANT to play with Barbie anymore. I still love old Barbie but she now rests on a shelf where I can admire her and pull from the past when it suits me. I still enjoy her!

Feelings Related to Dieting

You may have felt a bit like this when you decided that you wanted to go on your diet. During those days, weeks, months and perhaps even years of overeating you were locked in contentment, in a Never-Never Land so to speak.

Then you took that second glance at your life and you found that you didn't WANT to eat in that capacity ever again. It wasn't that you didn't like food anymore. You just WANTED to put the food on a shelf and use only what you needed. You WANTED the weight off and the sooner the better.

There was a story a few years back about weightlifter training for the Olympics. The weightlifter was lifting a tremendous amount of weight but was working to increase that amount so that he could win Gold. His trainer added a pound to the amount and the weightlifter began the process of levitating the weights. He failed miserably.

Despondent, he asked his trainer to remove the added pound and revert to the weight limit that he knew he could lift. His trainer had other visions for his 'student'.

Confidence Conquers, Even Excess Pounds

Rather than removing the pound, he added an additional pound and stood back and prepared to watch.

Amazingly, the weightlifter lifted the weights with confidence, almost effortlessly. Of course he was stunned when his trainer informed him that he had added rather than subtracted weight.

This is a great story about believing in one's self. What we believe tends to set limits on our accomplishments in life. Through the dieting process, mental exercises are extremely influential to your overall success.

Using Confidence & Willpower to Lose Weight

When one diets, it's mind over body - simply put it's brain over tummy and usually the tummy wins out because it doesn't feel good when it's put on a diet. It's almost like the tummy has a brain of its own; it can very well convince one to devour an entire box of brownies during these power-play moments.

However, if you have some mental tools you can control how the tummy feels and how you will react when it growls at you. It might also be a good idea to tell your spouse to hide those brownies for a while.

So, we've established that the first step to lose weight is to WANT to lose weight. It's simple - and we need to keep things as simple as possible during the weight loss process. When you toss in ridiculous recipes with 99 ingredients and begin counting fat grams, carbs, calories, teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, ounces, and pounds - it's just too busy!

Diet Bites will strive to keep things simple like the old cars.

Remember those? Some of you can. They were simple, made of steel and would last ten years or more.

You could always tell one model from another, and most of the time you could identify the year of the car.

Now, cars are sort of like modern-day diets; they all promise speed and excellence, cost a fortune, fizzle out fast and they all look alike.

So Diet Bites is different.  In fact, it's down-right unique because it sticks to SIMPLE and makes your diet fun.

And that's what all diets should be because, well....because they last a lifetime.
