Lower Calorie Jams for Weight Loss

The Diet Bites kitchen has been very busy this week, testing out sweet little nothings for your breakfast table.

In our humble opinion, you just can't beat fresh diet homemade jams with the reduced calorie jams found at your market for the following reasons:

No spoilage worries.
Convenience
Taste remarkably tasty!
Reasonably priced.
Come with detailed nutrition information.
And you can save the jar for iced teas and bobby pins!

With that said, we present our tasty offerings below. Please note that you should use these recipes as soon as possible unless you are a pro at hot-bathing.

The recipes are indeed tasty and ultra-low in calories (about 5 calories per spoonful) and that's something that the market's cannot beat or even match!

These spreads go well with all breakfast breads - muffins, bagels, biscuits, scones and so forth.  We hope that you enjoy and that it sparks a diet recipe within you!

Low Fat, Low Calorie Recipe for Smashin' Diet Banana Spread

1 Ripened Banana (peeled, of course!)
1 Dash of Nutmeg
1- 2 Dashes of Cinnamon
1 Dash of Ginger
1 Tiny Shot of REAL Rum Extract OR REAL Vanilla Extract
2 - 3 Packets of Splenda OR Equal
1 Tablespoon of Golden Raisins (optional)

Mash banana and add other ingredients. Entire recipe contains about 100 calories.

This was a taste of heaven when we spread it onto a piece of Earthgrain Almond & Oatberry bread.

If you do not use the entire recipe, it does not store well. Set out for the fruit eating birds to enjoy and mix in a little sunflower seeds while you're at it!

Strawberry Basket Spread Recipe

Low Calorie Recipe Ingredients

1 - 3 Ounce packet of Sugarfree gelatin made according to packet directions
1 Pound of fresh strawberries
2 Packets of Splenda OR Equal OR a bit of table sugar if extra sweetness is desired

You will only need 1/2 of the gelatin, so pour up the rest in a pretty glass and enjoy later.  Pour the rest into a bowl and add 1 pound of clean mashed strawberries.

Add sweetener. Place into fridge until set. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

The entire recipe contains about 175 calories.

Peach Mist Spread Recipe

Low Calorie Recipe Ingredients

1 - 1 Pound Bag of Frozen Peaches
Splenda OR Equal to Your Personal Taste Preferences
1 Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
Dash or Two of Ground Cloves
1 Tablespoon of Brown Sugar

Thaw peaches and mash thoroughly. Drain free ALL liquid. Stir in Splenda, brown sugar and spices. Store in a sealed glass jar in the fridge. Tends to be a bit watery if not totally drained.

However, we found this to be quite delicious and the entire concoction contains only 175 calories.
