Melon Meets Mango

Written by Diet Bites

A Low Calorie, Low Fat Mango Recipe

Melon contains so few calories. An added perk: melon works wonders in ridding the body of water retention due to overindulgence of the old salt shaker (i.e. sodium).

Mango Meets Melon is almost a too-simple recipe - and is best enjoyed on a warm day. And what a refreshing treat for minimal calories!

We have included the calorie content below for popular melons, so feel free to experiment when pairing mango with melon.

We are fond of the following mix topped with a dollop of fat free or light whipped topping:

INGREDIENTS

 AMOUNT

Mango, fresh & sliced

1 cup

Cantaloupe, fresh & cubed

1/2 - 1 cup

Vanilla Extract

1 Teaspoon

Ground Cinnamon

Dash

To prepare, squeeze OR mash a bit of the mango in a deep bowl, keeping at least 1/2 the mango in sliced form. Add extract and cinnamon and stir.

Add remaining slices of mango and the cantaloupe. If fruit isn't sweet enough, add a bit of no calorie sweetener, or a teaspoon of white or brown sugar.

If you haven't tried the large-grain brown sugar, you may wish to do that. For less than 20 calories, you get a burst of sweetness that takes a while to dissolve- and the large texture of the sugar adds a crunch to the recipe, particularly cold recipes.
