While the weather is quite warm - and in the South feels like it's blowing in from Hades, you must approach any type of outdoor activity that you do with great wisdom.
The body can overheat quite quickly amid seventy to eighty degree weather and when we're dealing with eighties, nineties, one-hundreds and one-hundred and ten plus weather in some areas, don't be a Diet Dummy and end up in the Emergency Room just because you felt like you needed to burn a few calories.
Wait until the sun starts to drift off in the late evening - or if you're a morning person, then rise and shine and get your healthy dose in before Mister Sun is shining in his full, heated glory.
While the weather is steamy, pile your meal plate with cool food selections.
Yes, lettuce and tomato salads are all the rage for dieters and are quite popular on the meal plate amid hot weather - but live a little and add a few healthy foods to the mix.
If you have never tried chickpeas in your summer salad - please do. Simply open the can, drain and add to your salad. Other healthy foods to add include chopped nuts, hulled roasted seeds and dried fruits.

As for dessert, while that double fudge chocolate cake studded with chocolate buttercream frosting looks awesome, it's not awesome for your weight loss plan.
What you need is a nice fat bowl of green or purple grapes, or a few slices apricots, or a sun-ripened banana instead. You know you'll love these foods just as much as you would have that double fudge wonder. Well, okay - maybe you won't but at least you can imagine that you do, right? That's the spirit!
As to those big old orange things that we mentioned that will soon be rolling into the market - we have some big boys on hand for summer that are certainly worth checking out. Watermelons - red meat and yellow meat and so many varieties, cantaloupes and honeydew melons are ripe for the picking and so low in dietary fat and caloric values that you'll cry with joy.
The following dieting articles can help you get through the dog days of August - as well as through July and September, too. Plan to lose at least thirty pounds during these three months. That is a very reasonable weight loss goal - and you know you can do it.
