Diet Bites Journal - October 14 Weight Loss " Remember the past as its reflections  can light the pathway to the future." ~ Sky Taylor Today was filled with things from the past. Tom and I took a short Our destination: Fort Belknap, a museum which contains relics from the past. The fort had been restructured and was amazing on its own -   but what captured my interest was the storage building filled with beautiful gowns - some of which belonged to our First Ladies. As it happened, Tom and I were the only visitors and the lady working at the museum was a gem. She asked if we would like to view the gowns - which were housed in another building, and we readily agreed. The gown to the right of your screen weighs 100 pounds! The nice guide told us that in order to wear the gown, the individual had to attend training because there was a special method to it all. Of course, Tom made a funny joke - about why they couldn't have just put her on a turn table or perhaps a dolly..... There were also gowns that had belonged to Lady Bird Johnson, as well as Mamie Eisenhower which had been donated to the museum. All of the gowns were stored in a rather crude building under uncontrolled conditions - no heating/no air conditioning/no bug proofing. It is amazing that they have withstood the cruel elements of Time. This thought caused me to ponder the weight loss process. So many times an individual will lose weight - and after they have gone through all the pain and trouble associated with dieting, they end up gaining back the weight they lost and many times, they gain more weight than they lost. Keeping that thought in mind, using our weight loss history can be of great help in keeping us on track. By viewing our past eating habits, as well as what went wrong after a successful diet ended are keys that can unlock the door leading to Weight Loss Management. Weight Loss Management doesn't receive a great deal of attention, but it just may be even more important than Weight Loss Success. Remember the past as its reflections can light the pathway to the future... |
