Diet Bites Journal - November 1 Weight Loss

" A November to remember....."

We live a far piece away from civilization - way out in the country. It's not exactly a beautiful terrain here - but it sure is peaceful. If only we had more birds - but they are in migration mode and have petered out over the last few weeks.

I still remember sitting on the front porch - not four feet from our swarm of hummingbirds that had settled in for the summer time.

We have set out our winter feeders and they are full of seed - but as of yet, there are no takers to be found. As I've said before, it takes a lot of patience to be patient.

Because we are so far out in the sticks we didn't have any trick-or-treaters come our way. Tom and I are always prepared for such - just in case, but not in the form of candy. We don't want to end up with a bowl or two of irresistible chocolate candy hanging around - just waiting to be devoured, so we keep a bit of change on hand in the event a scary ghost or goblin shows up at our door.

On that note, if you have a few bags, bowls or sacks of Halloween candy tempting you - please do resist the urge to splurge. Your hips and thighs will thank you come tomorrow.

And if you must splurge, grab the tiny calorie treats - the ones that last a long time in the mouth.

Chocolate, chewy middles and nuts can spell Diet Collision, even though dark chocolate renders some healthy benefits and nuts are a great source of protein. But when combined, the calorie and fat content are out the kazoo.

As mentioned in my journal yesterday, I'll try to keep you on track over the next eight weeks to help get you through the holidays. Remember your goal: Weight the same after the holidays as you did before the holidays OR try to weigh less if you have some pesky pounds to lose.
