Weight Loss is About Choices

Yesterday, our weight loss journal ended with the following, " Life is about choices. Make the one that is right for you!"

Weight loss also involves many choices. Which weight loss plan is the right weight loss plan? Which weight loss plan best suits your schedule? Which weight loss plan best suits your activity needs?

And when meal time arrives, the choices continue. Which foods should I choose? Should I stick to the foods listed on my weight loss plan OR can I opt for something else that is equally healthful? If I don't stick to the foods listed on my weight loss plan, will I still achieve weight loss?

Given all these questions, one can see that weight loss in itself is a very stressful circumstance. And stress is one of the main contributors to weight gain. It's an uphill battle - no matter how one looks at the situation.

Even after the weight loss plan concludes and an individual has reached their weight loss goals, the choices continue. Shall I continue to choose healthy foods only? Should I splurge just this once? If I gain weight, I can easily lose it again. After all, I've proven that I can accomplish just that!

And then the weight gain cycle continues.

With all of this said, if you are currently considering a weight loss plan OR if you are currently dieting, keep in mind that more than anything - the choices that you make are what impact your weight the most. It takes a lot of guts to lose weight. It takes even more guts to remain on your diet plan until you reach your weight loss goals. And it takes even more guts to make weight loss permanent.

On that note, think about a few of the weight loss commercials on tv. People drop pounds - then regain them - then lose them again - and of course, they say that they couldn't have done such without a certain plan. Then they go on to thank a particular weight loss plan or program. In fact, I've heard some of the commercials so many times that I can recite them verbatim!

Although the weight loss program or plan DID help the person ditch those unwanted pounds, it failed when it came to achieving permanent weight loss. Weight loss plans can only assist to a certain degree. In the end, it's all about the choices that we choose to make.
